Taking a snapshot of a city skyline, that’s as easy as hopping on a free ferry to New Jersey—what Kim does is capture the entire essence of a city with her ridiculously cute, city-specific prints. For each of her creations, she looks at hundreds of images, blog posts and maps to create a cityscape that is familiar but far from typical. It could be months before she finally sits down to her computer and starts creating using Illustrator. The palette takes a note from mid-century design—in fact, an editor at Portland Monthly once compared her work to the immortal ‘60s artist Miroslav Sasek, which “pretty much made [her] year.”
