Alexis found her love for jewelry making via some “tough love” from a professor. See, she was taking a jewelry making class and it, um, wasn’t going well. Her professor told her to call an artist friend and report to his studio for some extra-curricular tutelage. What she found was a mentor who asked her to take out her notebook and get to designing. That all started in August—and by December, she had her own trunk show. (If you think this sounds like a way cooler version of a made-for-TV movie, you aren’t alone.) Her current line involves rolling out clay to the right thickness, then carefully stamping it with a vintage typeset letter, creating a cute little piece that has the stamp of the creator, imperfectly perfect.
