Takuya was trained to make clothing, but when it came to leather? He was a blank slate. And so his products were all designed without any preconceived notions of what proper leatherworking should look like. Instead, Takuya thinks about what he would use –– then he makes a pattern, cuts it from high-quality leather, and then sews it all up. His pieces fuse American leather craft with European style, a collage of cultures, if you will. But why the switch from fabric to leather? Takuya just likes the way it ages, that the bags' color can subtly change over time, plain and simple.
