In designing his ceramics, Russell thinks functionality is just as important as aesthetics. The attention paid on every piece shows in the details, from the thick vessel walls, to the hermetic ceramic caps and the unusual brass knuckle handles on some of his growlers. Every growler is individually cast, trimmed by hand on the potter’s wheel and fired before any glazing even begins. Then each one is glazed inside and out before a second firing. The unique colors and textures give a stylish sheen or matte chalkboard surface on the outside, to better match your color scheme or provide a surface to record the brew you’re serving.
