Pete has been knee deep in wood shavings since he was a tot spending time in his grandfather’s workshop. It was in that space he learned the fundamentals of woodworking, which are the same time-tested techniques that he uses today. For any finished piece, Pete starts with a sketch to figure out shape and proper proportions. Then he may create a prototype in scrap wood, which is edited and reworked until it is just right. Then it might sit in Pete’s apartment for a few days, to see if it feels right—if it’s something somebody would want and use. Only then can a new piece be recreated for sale, with wood carefully selected for every particular piece.
