Simple, functional and beautiful—these three words aptly describe Collin’s woodwork. His process is fluid, the objects he creates developed through repeated production, slight tweaks to accommodate the character of the wood and thoughtful consideration of how each item will be used. Each of his bowls, lamps and servingware is meant to be useful, to serve a purpose in people’s everyday lives, and he enjoys taking common objects and reinventing them in wood—like a knife or clipboard, remade in his signature minimalist aesthetic. Minimalist doesn’t mean perfect, or without personality, though—the character of the wood, any flaws, nail holes or knots are considered and often incorporated into his designs.
