Paulette is a fourth-generation artist — the women in her family have been crocheting and art-making for, well, four generations. But it wasn't until Paulette became interested in sew-on patches and wanted to create her own designs that she branched out. She creates the designs for her patches (like a llama, perhaps) using digitizing software, then embroidering it onto the felt via machine. It's this collaboration between man and machine that Paulette finds the interesting, and she spends a lot of time drawing, tweaking and sewing to make sure each patch comes out just so, llamas included.
