Like a ceramics archaeologist, Lindsey has found a way to give vintage molds new life in our twenty-first century homes. Each item she crafts starts as earthenware slip - liquid clay, essentially – cast in vintage molds found online or at local estate sales. Some molds are over 50 years old! To modernize her 60s and 70s era molds, Lindsey may slightly tweak their intended function before filling them up, sanding them down, bisque firing and finishing the cast with a bright, colorful glaze. Her whale ring holder and bird feeder designs, for examples, were used as ashtrays back in the day. Now, they’re bringing fully functional quirky kitsch to tables and yards. With Lindsey’s help, the lost art of made-from-scratch ceramics can take its place in our fast-paced world.
