Employing techniques from bygone eras, Alex creates jewelry that looks like ancient relics. With old world metalsmithing techniques, he’s able to turn basic materials into wearable treasures. Inspired by his upbringing in the rural Southwest, his creations share many of the characteristics of those surroundings: texture, grit and timeworn surfaces. Each piece is individually fabricated from wire or sheet metal and transformed with hammers and mandrels, sawing and snipping, drilling and soldering into contemporary works of art. His handiwork gives an antique feel to modern shapes, looking like items you might find in a museum gallery.
