Issa’s fascination with plants goes way back. Like to the West Virginia farm where she was raised with no electricity by her Buddhist dad and Southern California mom. Her earth-loving parents taught her about gardening and the practical uses for herbs, of course. She set about fine-tuning that knowhow under a noted aromatherapist, then bought a 20-gallon copper still, called up a few lavender-raising friends and started blending away. Of her 200-odd tries, three scents emerged as the clear winners, the ones that she blends today using carefully-sourced, therapeutic-grade oils.
