Drawing inspiration from colors found in nature, Kristin dyes her textile designs with materials from the outdoors. Walnuts, wood chips, tree bark and plant roots create the different dyes she uses, translating into rich brown, sage green and deep purple on fabric. She spends much of her time experimenting with different techniques and natural ingredients, hand-dyeing each bit of canvas or silk. Because she is working with organic materials, the finished patterns may vary between batches. Which means no two bags, aprons or garments will be exactly alike, every piece truly one-of-a-kind.
