Kate spends a lot of time outdoors—hiking, exploring, taking photos, birdwatching—anything that allows her to be out in nature. Her treks serve as an endless source of inspiration and are often the starting point for a new piece. A quick sketch of a creature or bit of flora she encounters is supplemented with plenty of research, and she consults heaps of books to ensure that each specimen is as accurate as possible. It’s the painting bit that takes the most concentration, though. Her watercolor works of art are created with the tiniest of brushes, to capture every fine detail.
