When it comes to painting, Kimmy likes to have fun with it. And it shows in her whimsical illustrations. Not only does her art feature cats and dogs, but also the pets themselves all say something—literally. Her hand-drawn felines are stretched, curled, arched and lounged into letters to spell out a frisky alphabet. And she has an entire litter of wiener dogs that are especially expressive, their thoughts on the colorful knit sweaters they’re donning. The playful, tongue-in-cheek illustrations express her sense of humor (and love for animals, of course), while giving a nod to her influences. She’s inspired by vintage textures, her quaint Philly neighborhood and illustrations of yore, and it shows in her use of soft color palettes, hand-drawn patterns and dedication to unusual and wonderful subjects.
