Katie’s pieces are a pocket-sized ode to her travels, each one cast from different specimens collected on her global treks, specifically from hiking in Guatemala, the coast of Maine or the urban landscape of Chicago. Once she finds her inspiration, Katie gets to work, refining the cast models to make them more wearable through hammering, filing, sanding, drilling and polishing. At any time, there are a dozen pieces in progress in her studio, and she spends her days whizzing between stations to work on whatever ring, earring or pendant needs her attention at any moment. The hand touches make her jewelry subtle, low maintenance and playful, little wearable souvenirs you can wear every day.
