With her background in textiles, Whitney often finds herself drawn to shapes and forms — and translating those ideas into clay can sometimes be challenging for the ceramicist. She starts with a pile of earth, shaping and building each piece before giving each of her small-batch planters a unique glaze. And that special process is what causes people to ask her favorite question, "What is this made from?". Whitney's hard work pays off when a customer, at first glance, thinks her work is made with metal or wood instead of clay.
