This highly addictive snack all began with Neha’s mom. About 30 years ago she started making spiced popcorn in the tradition of “popcorn wallah” street vendors back in India (yes, that’s a thing): She’d add spices, lentil chips and peanuts to a big batch of freshly popped corn kernels. It was a sweet-and-spicy sensation—and wherever Neha went, care packages would follow. Her friends had just one question, “Where do we get more?” After leaving a long career in sustainability, Neha started adding on to her mom’s recipes, experimenting with many of the traditional flavors found in Indian dishes. The resulting flavors, like Tamarind Sesame and Chai Masala, will make your taste buds to believe they are actually in a Bollywood movie, coordinated shoulder shaking and all.
