Mier was raised in Shanghai, and moved to Phoenix at the age of 12, going on to get a degree in Environmental Design at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Given her trade its no surprise that she finds inspiration for her adorable ceramic jewelry in nature herself. The process is quite long—and it involves everything from tiny ceramics tools to giant kilns for firing the final product. Making something by hand that’s so small and intricate comes with its own challenges, but she’s come to love that each of her little ceramic creations is slightly different. That just means each one’s got its own teeny personality.
