Much of Detroit is seeing changes, from facelifts to demolitions, and Clare and Wayne are lucky enough to collect the discards to make their treasures. Scraps of wood, old hardwood flooring, torn up baseboards and worn beams are the materials they work with, each piece of lumber with its own story to tell. It’s the past life of the materials that give the duo’s furniture, decor and photo frames specific character or personalities. And while the wood is sanded, cut and fitted to look best in each finished product, Wayne and Clare let it speak for itself. Every item includes a note detailing the type of wood, and what purpose it once served.
