A self-taught metalsmith, Paula is thoughtful about her process, carefully mulling over every new idea long before putting saw to metal. She pulls inspiration from the surrounding landscape, much of her jewelry incorporating elements from nature. Even the impact on nature is integrated into how she makes—she’s mindful of the chemicals and toxic fumes metalsmithing often requires. She chooses the least harmful methods and substances possible, for her and the wearer’s and the environment’s benefit. There’s a lot of love hammered into each piece of jewelry she makes, and it shows. Each one’s stamped with a little “xo.”
