Despite her go-with-the-flow creative philosophy, Marina’s distinctive (and instinctive) jewelry designs are rooted in structure. Before she turned her attention to fashion, she studied architecture—and her zeal for shape and structure stuck. You can see it in the bold forms that define Marina’s work. But her thought process is anything but rigid. Marina lets inspiration flow from her hands to materials, quite possibly ending up very different from her original vision, which she’s totally cool with. One thing she is a stickler for, though, is making each and every detail by hand, right down to her silk cord. She wonders, why buy it when you can make it? If you build it, they will come.
