College is a time of experimentation – and it was no different for Michelle. During her time at Yale, she dabbled in etching and lithography. Hey, it was college! Afterward she transitioned into relief printing, hand-pulled and letterpress. And her husband Charles? He's a true printer. His days are spent alternating between yelling at the press in desperation and praising it for producing such beautiful, textural prints. In 2009 they started Quail Lane Press with a small tabletop Vandercook printing press in the laundry room of their cabin. Today Michelle designs and Charles prints, and we blush over how ridiculously cute the whole thing is.
