Here’s our nomination for maker couple of the year: Clare comes from a long line of entrepreneurs, starting with her great grandpa, who founded his business during the Great Depression. Her husband Matt ran an organic food co-op before getting his culinary degree and earning his chops at high-end restaurants. They bring you uniquely flavored fruit preserves and syrups that were inspired by Wisconsin’s cheeses and meats--and by good old-fashioned spirits. When they say that their jams and syrups are artisanal and small batch, they really mean it: They have direct relationships with farmers and are up until all hours of the night, slicing, dicing and julienning seasonal, heirloom varietals. Somebody give them a trophy.
