Put good in, get good out. At least, that’s the idea the designing duo (and real-life married couple) behind Re:work Furnishings likes to live by. Alex and Lindsay start their build process by sourcing the right materials. They work closely with a carefully forged network of local companies and individual scavengers to find the perfect materials for each project. Words like “grain” and “tone” just carry extra weight among this timber-obsessed team. Once the material is gathered, the Re:work woodworkers carefully prep each reclaimed component by hand, paying special attention to its unique composition, whether it’s part of an old Ohio barn, some previously unused planks or a sheet of locally sourced glass. Their ingredients are imperfect. They have unexpected marks and bends. But that’s what makes them interesting.
