If you want the straight scoop on this maker's mainstay, you'll have to go way back. LK (aka: “Sadie”) began her art career at four years old when her grandmother gifted her a coloring book and box of crayons. Thirty-eight years later she walked away with an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. LK started taking printmaking classes during summers at the the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown Mass, an event that she describes as “l'amour a premiere vue,” or “love at first sight.” She has since refined her printmaking process, beginning with inspirational familial and historical finds, moving them onto her sketchbook and ending up with the perfectly imperfect prints you see today. Who knew coloring books could be such great catalysts?
