Ashley has a soft spot for all things old and historic—especially women’s handicrafts of the late 1800s (it’s her own personal Dream of the 1890s). Researching flags and banners from the Women’s Suffrage Movement, spurred the idea of creating her little life-affirming banners. She uses flour sack cotton because it hangs just right, and because it reminds her of the fabric scraps her great grandmother used to sew into her quilts. Oh, by the way, quilting and sewing has been passed down by the women in her family for many generations—so guess you could say that she’s been studying her craft for many hundred years.
