A community college class and a LOT of YouTube videos gave Katie a ceramics obsession. But it was a very talented mentor who elevated her love into art. As a Seattle native, she’s come to terms with the eternal gloom and weeklong rains—so she uses her bright, cheerful ceramics to show the beauty that she sees in the gloom. Katie carves on top of wet clay to make her wares, creating layers of clouds and happy little dots on the organically shaped pieces in a light, airy palette. They’ve got a certain contagious happiness that even a rainy-day curmudgeon can not deny.
