Inside Ponyride (an entrepreneurial space in Detroit) a team of metalsmiths with over a decade of jewelry-making experience churns out hand-forged pieces of jewelry with spunk and story. They start out with steel scraps –– masonry nails from an old building or discarded hanging wire. Then they design unique pieces of jewelry around the materials –– forging, forming, stamping, soldering, filing, sanding and waxing along the way. You could say that it's a lot of work. But to the group of folks behind it all? Well, it doesn't feel like work in the least.
