Sherri seeks out old, well-worn books destined for the trash and rescues them (well, the lucky ones, anyway). Once in her literature-loving hands, she gives them new life as bookish necklaces, reusable planters and mad scientist vases. The book planters were developed after a move to a new apartment, where Sherri didn’t have the space to keep a garden. Instead she began to think about how she could bring her plants indoors and realized almost any object could technically become a planter. So she chose books. Old ones, to bring out the contrast between the freshness of a live plant and the dilapidated beauty of a well-worn hardcover. Recycling through gardening—we think it’s a pretty novel idea.
