They say that art imitates life. It certainly did in Carol’s case. When she had just left her jetsetting career as a director at an apparel company, she made bags that were more rigid, sculptural and complicated. As she relaxed into her craft, her lines became more freeform. Each piece begins in her workshop with a piece of un-dyed, unfinished natural linen. She creates colors, hand-dyes the fabrics by hand and then applies textures with a sewing machine, no patterns in sight. The result are soft, feminine, playful bags with lots of texture.
